No kid left behind

Did you know that one in three Canadian kids cannot participate in sport due to cost? KidSport acknowledges that sport means much more than just bringing children together to participate in physical activity— it creates a foundational sense of belonging, regardless of gender or background.

From humble beginnings and big dreams to the national stage and even bigger impact - KidSport has always been about kids and sport. KidSport began as a program of Sport BC, with a goal to help families overcome the prohibitive cost of sport. Since then, they’ve expanded across Canada, giving tens of thousands of kids each year the opportunity to participate in organized sport. Since 1993, KidSport has helped nearly 1 million kids experience the joy of organized sport, and in return, sport has created all kinds of positive change for Canadians. - KidSport Canada

KidSport believes all children deserve access to sport, as it can play a defining role in the mental and physical well-being of a child’s life. KV Capital is proud to support KidSport in helping foster vibrant communities, nurturing young minds and being a part of tangible change.

The power of sport

85% of Canadians agree that sports participation builds stronger communities, and so many Canadian childhoods have been shaped by the connections and encouragement they found through organized sport.

By guiding kids off the bench and into the game, direct positive impact can be measured in a variety of different ways including increased focus in the classroom, fueling healthy habits and fostering safer communities. Dana Hyman, Executive Director of KidSport Edmonton noted,“KidSport was created to help remove barriers, not add them. Sport is the vehicle to help build inclusivity and fuel children’s success”.

Ways to give

KidSport supports children from families living up to thirty percent above the poverty line. The three greatest obstacles that families face are registration fees, cost of equipment and transportation.

As a community-funded organization, they are proud to be “by the community, for the community”. As a member of the Edmonton community, KV Capital is proud to participate in helping subsidize sport registration cost for kids who want to play. Spring through fall (April-August)are the busiest seasons with the highest need for donations, as most sport team’s seasons are active during the warmer months of the year.
